Alpha Omicron Pi is pleased to announce the colonization of its 190th chapter at Ramapo College of New Jersey on February 23, 2011. This ceremony concluded two days of colonization parties, personal appointments and weeks of public relations events. The event was held on the Ramapo campus in Mahwah, NJ.
Alpha Omicron Pi was invited by the Panhellenic community to be the fifth NPC sorority to join the Ramapo Fraternity and Sorority Community. Founded in 1969, Ramapo College of New Jersey is ranked as fourth in the Best Regional Universities North category and has a unique interdisciplinary academic structure for its 6000 students. The campus is located in the beautiful pastoral setting in the foothills of the Ramapo Mountains on the New Jersey/New York border. Growth of the Fraternity and Sorority Community has been rapid over the past several years and interest in joining one of the Greek organizations on campus continues to increase significantly year after year. The Colonization Service was hosted by Karen Galehan, Vice President of the AOII Executive Board and was assisted in the colonization week by India Bounds, Educational Leadership Consultant; Amber Countis, Network Director; Molly Fenton, Educational Leadership Consultant; Whitney Frazier, AOII Graphic Designer; Meghan Granito, AOII Assistant Director of Chapter Services, and Kaya Miller, AOII Director of Advancement. Members of the Lambda Upsilon and Theta Pi Chapters of Alpha Omicron Pi helped with public relations and recruitment efforts in the weeks and days preceding the event.
Many members of the university’s administration, Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic, NPHC and Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life staff, as well as Alumnae Advisory Committee volunteers and friends and family of the colony members attended the ceremony and celebration. A dessert reception followed the service along with many pictures taken in celebration of the newest group of AOII colony members. Eighty wonderful women accepted bids from AOII. They are an active and talented group of women with numerous areas of campus involvement, leadership positions, and commitment to academic excellence. With an average group GPA of 3.23, their GPA is expected to be the highest sorority GPA on campus. Campus total is 60 and the average chapter size of existing NPC groups is 80.
The next few months will be full of fun, learning and work as the Ramapo College of New Jersey colony prepares itself to be installed as the 190th chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi. Members will participate in weekly education sessions and sisterhood events, as well as socials, philanthropic events, and a colony retreat. They are responsible for establishing the chapter’s sub-motto, a name that will typify the chapter’s unique character. There are also bylaws to write, officers to elect, and procedures to establish.

This Halloween your Brothers are actually up to some good. With some careful redecorating they will transform our newly renovated home into a Haunted Mansion, for the London Boys and Girls Club. This is a welcome revival since this task has not been undertaken since 2006. Feel free to stop by and check out the festivities, it's sure to be a scream.
Movember Date: Begins Monday, November 1st
With November just around the corner many Brothers will be participating in "Movember". This is a fantastic cause supporting Prostate Cancer research. Although This is non-sanctioned DU event we challenge you to send in photo's of you sporting your best Mo (mustache). This is a great way to support an invaluable cause and provide your fellow Brothers a laugh.
Our contact list is continuing to grow, thanks to your support. Your Brothers look forward to seeing you out.
